
CFISD announced 12 new model teachers for English Language Arts, Reading and Social Studies for second through fifth grades in late April
May 19, 2026—CFISD recently announced 12 new model teachers for English Language Arts, Reading and Social Studies (ELAR/SS) for second through fifth grades.
This recognition honors teachers whose classrooms reflect high levels of student engagement and learning. In order to qualify, teachers had to apply for the program, receive references from their principals and undergo multiple classroom observations during the selection process.
As ELAR/SS Model Teachers, they will now get to open their classrooms to colleagues from across the district, offering opportunities to observe, learn, and grow from their exemplary practices. The teachers who were named for the ELAR/SS Grades 2-5 Model Teacher Program are listed below.
· Erika Bilton: third grade teacher at Jowell Elementary School
· Kisa Fields: third grade teacher at Wells Elementary School
· Kristina Gauvin: second grade teacher at Hoover Elementary School
· Teresita Gonzalez: fourth grade teacher at Lieder Elementary School
· Lynette Mathews: fourth grade teacher at Bang Elementary School
· Rebecca McConnell: second grade teacher at Copeland Elementary School
· Aaronni Miller: fifth grade teacher at Wilson Elementary School
· Anna Pisaro: fifth grade teacher at A. Robison Elementary School
· Rachael Ray: fourth grade teacher at Lowery Elementary School
· Rebecca Ruiz: fourth grade teacher at Woodard Elementary School
· Kristina Shepherd: fourth grade teacher at Rennell Elementary School
